A Snapshot of my Spiritual Journey: Beyond the Typical Awakening Story

Spiritual Journey

A Different Kind of Spiritual Awakening

In the spiritual or new age world, you often hear people talk about their spiritual awakening. They describe it as if, at some point later in life, they suddenly woke up to the idea that something bigger exists or that the dogma they've been fed throughout life no longer sits well with them.

If I'm honest with you, I don't feel like I ever had that "aha" moment. Instead, I've been on a continual quest my whole life.

Early Spiritual Experiences: Dreams and Intuition

I remember being very young in elementary school and having a dream about standing in front of God and asking what the meaning of life was. Unfortunately, I was told and then couldn't remember when I woke up. I would have dreams that came true on a regular basis, albeit about mundane events like conversations and tests, but still, it was very much my normal experience.

Clairaudient Abilities Emerge

While I didn't know that I was clairaudient as well, my main guide (I still don't know his name) would chime in from time to time with important updates:

  1. At age five, during a walk with my grandmother and mother, I heard him say, "They're going to get divorced soon." He was speaking about my parents, who divorced when I was six.

  2. At age thirteen, standing in a church chapel, I heard him say, "They are missing the point of God entirely." He was speaking about the handful of women praying fervently, but in retrospect, he was addressing organized religion in general.

The Quest for Spiritual Connection: Exploring Organized Religion

The summer after my freshman year in college, I started attending a college-age group at my friend's church because I felt lonely. My self-esteem was never great, and I needed to figure out what or where God was. I spent many years joining different christian groups and attending many different churches.

Disappointment with Traditional Religious Spaces

Initially, with every new church, I would feel excited and hopeful. But the more I attended each one, the more disappointed I became because what I knew God was in my heart never seemed to exist in these spaces. I found a lot of performative and hypocritical people that didn't seem to have an ounce of understanding of who God is. I even became very excited when on of these churches had a "prophet" come in and give messages "from God" to the congregants. It turned out that he was only able to share "messages from God" for the people that were already heavily involved in the church and the "messages" were more along the lines of how they were going to be helping the church grow. I left disappointed that He proved himself to be a charlatan and the church supported it, while the congregants lapped up the BS.

Breaking Free: Exploring Alternative Spiritual Paths

When I was 26, after having a few years of experience as a registered nurse, I went to NYC as a travel nurse. It was at that time that I felt safe to explore outside of religious dogma and find a connection with other beliefs and people who experienced connection with God in the way that I always had.

Discovering Psychic Abilities and Intuitive Development

I started learning about what it meant to have psychic abilities, including:

  • Clairvoyance

  • Claircognizance

  • Clairaudience

  • Clairsentience

I also learned about and experienced astral travel simply by becoming curious and reading a book about it.

Embracing My Gifts: Becoming a Reader and Intuitive Guide

In 2006, I found a lightworkers meetup group where a now good friend asked what I did. She asked in such a way that made it feel like I walked through the door with a magic aura glowing off of me. I explained that I didn't DO anything. Things just seemed to happen to me. She became my first guinea pig, and I began my life as a reader.

Learning to Use Intuitive Tools

I learned that tarot, pendulums, and other tools of the occult are simply that - tools. They aren't evil, as I was led to believe. It would be a while longer before I removed the fear-based belief that somehow something dark might take over if I wasn't careful enough.

Professional Development: Psychic Studies and Personal Growth

I eventually signed up for psychic development courses through Holistic Studies Institute, founded and run by the late Stephen Robinson. It was there that I learned that I didn't have to carry the weight of the "spiritual" and "psychic" trope. Stephen embodied a different energy; he didn't wear crystals and speak woo-woo nonsense.

Finding My Authentic Spiritual Path

It took me a while, but I finally got to a point where I felt so comfortable with myself and in my spiritual journey not looking like what others say it should. I don't practice anything out of fear or hope that I will be rewarded if I am "good enough."

Empowering Others on Their Spiritual Journey

I share all of this because I hope you find a space here that feels safe to grow, to learn to be empowered in who you are, and to learn to love yourself JUST as you are. It is through that inner connection that you find, or at least I found, a deeper connection with Source and those around you.

This journey will definitely include me sharing about:

  1. Intuition development

  2. Psychic abilities and how to enhance them

  3. Manifestation techniques

These are all very much a part of who I am and how I connect with Source. I invite you to join me on this journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth.
